DNA of 50 breast cancer patients decoded
In the single largest cancer genomics investigation reported to date, School of Medicine scientists have sequenced the whole genomes of tumors from 50 breast cancer patients and compared them to the matched DNA of the same patients’ healthy cells. They uncovered incredible complexity in the cancer genomes, but also got a glimpse of new routes toward personalized medicine. FULL STORY

Campus Y lights 100 candles
The Campus YMCA, WUSTL’s largest student-volunteer organization, celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. Since its inception, Campus Y has been one of the few places where male and female students could collaborate on community projects, such as 1938’s International Bazaar (right). - Bats come alive in doubleheader sweep. The baseball team experienced an offensive explosion not seen in more than 20 years with a doubleheader sweep of Knox College that stretched the WUSTL winning streak to eight games. WUSTL won the first game, 11-10, then experienced a nearly unparalleled offensive surge in the second, erupting for 25 runs in seven innings for a 25-5 victory.
